Is vinyl plank flooring waterproof?
Yes, yes, yes! Vinyl plank (often referred to as LVP) is one cut version of luxury vinyl flooring (LVF), a 100% waterproof product. This excellent product has many other benefits. Since we live by the strong philosophy of personalized service, we will take as much time as you need to explain it.
The basics: What is luxury vinyl flooring?
Luxury vinyl floors provide true-to-life images of wood, stone, and tile. Photographs are taken with 3D photography and printed digitally, so they are vibrant, clear, realistic, and accurate. There are bright colors, bold patterns, and details such as veining variations, knots, swirls, raised grains, and wormholes.
Embossing adds depth and dimension, as well as textured appearances: wire-brushed, hand scraped, weathered, and distressed. LVP is made by cutting the vinyl into strips and mounting them on boards to resemble hardwood planks. It can also be cut into square, groutable, tile-sized pieces, and many feel the extra seams add to the realism.
Like all LVF, luxury vinyl plank follows the trends, including gray, whitewashed wood and barn door look, terrazzo, granite, slate, marble-like appearances, and textures, and more.
It?s also durable, with a thick, top, clear melamine wear layer that protects the floor from scratches, scuffs and keeps spills on the top waiting to be wiped off. While all vinyl is thick, LVP should be at least 10-mm to 12-mm for that authentic hardwood feeling. Wear layers should be at least 20- mils thick.
Is vinyl plank challenging to install?
No. Any LVF can be installed by a technique known as the floating floor. Both installers and homeowners appreciate it because it?s fast and uncomplicated. With a floating floor, pieces click together and then hover over the subfloor with no nails or glue. Subfloors need mainly to be clean, dry, and level.
Since there?s no glue needed, there are also no fumes in which to breathe. It?s also easy to remove and place elsewhere, a real advantage if you move and want to take it with you or use it in another room.
